1. Who we are

Business of Beauty (B.O.B) is the data controller responsible for the personal data collected through this website. If you have any question about this policy or about how we handle your data, email Jo@businessofbeauty.co.uk.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Your name, email address and, where relevant, your business name and role, when you complete a form on this site.
• The content of any message, application or listing details you send us.
• Billing details when you buy something. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s own checkout page and are never seen, handled or stored by us or by this website.

Information collected automatically

If, and only if, you accept analytics cookies, we collect standard website analytics: approximate location from your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you arrived. If you decline, none of this is collected. See our cookie policy.

3. Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry or process your application.
• To take payment and provide the membership, listing or booking you have bought.
• To operate, maintain and improve this website.
• To send you updates about B.O.B, where you have asked us to.
• To meet our legal obligations.

4. Our lawful bases (UK GDPR)

• Contract: to provide the membership, listing or booking you have paid for, or to take steps before entering into that agreement.
• Legitimate interests: to respond to an enquiry you have sent us, and to keep this website secure and working.
• Consent: for analytics and marketing cookies, and for marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligation: where we must keep records, for example for tax.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. We use the following processors, each of which handles data on our instructions:

• Vercel hosts this website and processes server logs.
• Web3Forms delivers form submissions to our inbox.
• Stripe processes payments. Stripe is the controller of your card data, not us.
• Google provides analytics, and only if you have accepted analytics cookies.

We may also share data with professional advisers, or with a regulator or law enforcement where the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for up to two years so we can follow up and answer questions about earlier conversations. Records relating to a purchase are kept for seven years, which is the period UK tax law requires. After that, data is deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
• ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances
• ask us to restrict how we use it
• receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
• object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time
• withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To exercise any of these, email Jo@businessofbeauty.co.uk. We will respond within one month, and there is no charge unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

8. Complaints

If you believe we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.

9. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do with data changes. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version.
